Be the Change Award Honors Unsung Heroes

We were thrilled to award Felicia Mycyk of Abridge the 2007 Be the Change award, made possible by our generous sponsor, Canyon Ranch. The award — named for the Gandhi quote "Be the change you wish to see in the world" — recognizes a Pennsylvania woman who personifies compassion for her community and commitment to improving the lives of others.

Felicia's tremendous efforts in the community include organizing a recovery initiative (ARISE) to help Aliquippa, PA after severe flood damage, as well as helping other recovering communities meet their immediate and future needs. To date, under Felicia's leadership, ARISE has raised more than $47,000. The 29-year-old mother of two also mentors young high school women, promotes local musicians and serves on the board of directors for the regional Girl Scouts.  As the grand prize winner, Felicia receives an all-inclusive, one-week stay for two at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, Mass., or Tucson, Ariz., worth a total value of $10,000.

We also congratulate our Be the Change finalists, who each received a Canyon Ranch gift basket valued at more than $300:

Lisa Bernardo of Gibsonia
Valarie Trimarchi
of Indiana
Gail Inderwies of Oreland
Linda Byers of Millerstown
