Reaching the Millionaire Zone with Your Passions
by Jennifer Openshaw
Want to turn your Passions into Profits? Who doesn't! PA Governor's Conference for Women speaker Jennifer Openshaw, author of The Millionaire Zone, AOL Family Financial Editor, and a contributor to the Fox Business Network, says, "When it comes to turning your passions into profits, it's all about using who and what you already know. Thousands of millionaires have done it and so can you."
The one-time motel maid-turned-millionaire entrepreneur conducted national research among 3,000 Americans for her new book. She found that millionaires use their networks smarter than non-millionaires, ultimately helping them to become more financially successful.
Openshaw, a nationally recognized expert in women and money matters, summarizes three key steps to turning your passions into profits.
- Step 1 – Identify Your Power Ideas. "Everyone has ideas and opportunities right at their finger tips that could make them millions," says Openshaw. "And too often, women kick themselves in the you-know-what because they think they can't get those ideas off the ground." In her book, Openshaw offers a 30-day Getting Started Guide to help you identify your best ideas and turn them into a real business or to take your business to new levels.
- Step 2 – Test Your Concept. Too often, says Openshaw, people spend thousands on focus groups or on producing a product. "In my book I share the story of Erica Zohar who got her idea for a hip clothing line for suburban women off the ground with just $10,000. Erica did it by creating samples and getting feedback from people and organizations around her who represented her target customers."
- Step 3 – Sell Through Your LifeNet. Tricia Ramer, also featured in Openshaw's book, went from being a school teacher to making six-figures and controlling her own schedule by simply leveraging what Openshaw calls your LifeNet, the people, places and resources you already know. Erica leveraged her LifeNet to get her first $40,000 in orders – from Bloomingdales.
